The Elements – Ancient and Modern Meditations

Subliminal Phoenix Workshop/Experience in Portland

Come to OneDoorLand for a four week experiential journey into the elemental nature of our consciousness. Subliminal Phoenix will guide a group experience of the four states of being and the quintessence of bringing action, thought, feeling, and form together. For 4 Consecutive weeks in October and November, Elijah will facilitate a 2 hour journey through each element from 8pm – 10pm each Wednesday evening. We will discuss the power of the elements in magic, community, creative co-creation, and neurological brainwave states. As a group, we will embark upon a silent meditation on each state of being through nature, and complete our journey with a Light Sound Experience in the Indralaya Dome. We will be combining ancient and modern technology of vibrational medicine to activate these Elemental States including Procyon Brainwave Entrainment Devices, Binaural Beats, Cymatic Imagery, Ancient Sound Healing Instruments, Breath-work, and the Spirits of Nature through the Physical Elements.

This is a Unique Small-Group Experience/Experiment. Only 8 Participants will be guaranteed a spot in each Journey. Please RSVP with integrity, as the first 8 people to sign up will be given priority for the evening. Up to 12 people can attend the event in its entirety, but may not have the same light/sound machine experience. It is encouraged that the same group attend as many classes as possible, to keep coherence throughout the experiment. After the closing of each elemental experience, participants have the additional invitation to stay in the Dome while we activate the Dream Temple. Take your journey even further down the rabbit hole, sleeping in the geodesic dome and diving into the elemental meditation. Brainwave Alchemy sessions available until midnight. Lights out at midnight, allowing those who stay to drift into a deep sleep with the ambient tones of each elemental prayer. This is the first of many journeys that will take place at OneDoorLand. Those who complete all four classes will receive a free Four Elements DVD and CD of Healing Tones to continue this practice at home. Four Elements DVD and Downloads Now Available

DVDs and Digital Downloads Now Available – Visit Our Product Page

With this Meditation DVD Subliminal Phoenix offers you a lantern: a flame to light your path into the four corners of your own mind. Within your energetic and neurological center, you have access to four naturally occurring brainwave states. Through the power of light and sound, you can activate these different realms at will.

These meditations have been created with care and intention to create a safe, powerful audio/visual landscape. The soundtrack is tuned to the Solfeggio Frequencies, ancient healing tones rediscovered in the age of modern science. Each track has Binaural Beats to activate the desired brainwave state through audio entrainment. For optimal effect use a deep bass sound system or over-the-ear headphones. The visuals are created with custom generated fractals and the cymatic imprint of the audio track. Cymatics are the powerful visual representation of frequency, created by physically vibrating particles, revealing the geometric order hidden in our world. These visuals are best viewed on a projector, and please feel free to close your eyes during any session. The hypnotic effect of fractal imagery and mandala evolution gives you permission to simply breathe and let go.

Each of the Four Elements tracks are 10 minutes long and activate the chosen brainwave state. Air Clarity uses the stimulating high beta, gamma frequencies to unlock focus and energy, the solfeggio tone of, 852 returning to spiritual order, and the undertone is activating the pineal gland. Fire Creativity holds the 528 frequency of DNA Repair and stimulates the Alpha frequency of learning, inspiration, and the hypnogogic state of lucid living. Water Meditation, also in the love frequency 528, will offer a dip into the Theta frequency for trance induction, lucid dreaming, and relaxation. Earth Rejuvenation plays the solfeggio tone 396, liberating guilt and fear, and is utilizing the deepest frequency of Delta to promote deep sleep, rejuvenation, and a place for cellular healing.

Neuroscience and Meditation

New research reveals the cell mechanisms underlying a meditative state
By Peter B. Reiner

* Regular deep meditation changes the brain in positive ways. This type of meditation seems to be associated with gamma waves, the electromagnetic rhythm of neurons firing very rapidly in harmony.
* Neuroscientists have pinpointed the cells responsible for producing these gamma rhythms and demonstrated a technology that can induce the brain-wave pattern in mice.
* In the future it might be possible to use this technology to reproduce some of the beneficial effects of meditation.

In the fall of 2005 the Dalai Lama delivered a lecture at the annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in Washington, D.C., highlighting the areas of convergence between neuroscience and Buddhist thought about the mind. He took the opportunity to remind the audience that not only is he a Buddhist monk but that he is also an enthusiastic proponent of modern technology. [For more on the Dalai Lama’s lecture, see “Meditations on the Brain,” by R. Douglas Fields; Scientific American Mind, February/March 2006.]

Elaborating, the spiritual leader of Tibet explained to the audience of scientists that although he meditates for four hours every morning, it is hard work. He divulged that if neuroscientists could find a way to put electrodes in his brain and create the same outcome he gets from meditating, he would be an eager volunteer. Now a set of experiments from researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University moves us a step closer to making his wish a reality. The neuroscientists managed to induce in mice a brain-wave pattern associated with meditation—answering a long-standing question about how this pattern is generated and theoretically laying the groundwork for a cognitive-enhancement technology that could mimic meditation’s effects.

Neuroimaging of meditation’s effect on brain reactivity to pain

Some meditation techniques reduce pain, but there have been no studies on how meditation affects the brain’s response to pain. Functional magnetic resonance imaging of the response to thermally induced pain applied outside the meditation period found that long-term practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation technique showed 40-50% fewer voxels responding to pain in the thalamus and total brain than in healthy matched controls interested in learning the technique. After the controls learned the technique and practiced it for 5 months, their response decreased by 40-50% in the thalamus, prefrontal cortex, total brain, and marginally in the anterior cingulate cortex. The results suggest that the Transcendental Meditation technique longitudinally reduces the affective/motivational dimension of the brain’s response to pain.

Are you aware that those who regularly meditate have significantly increased levels of the hormone Serotonin, melatonin, and the neurotransmitters GABA? Serotonin is a main neurotransmitter and neuropeptide that influences mood and behavior in many ways. Depleted serotonin levels are linked to depression, obesity, insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea, migraine headaches, premenstrual syndrome, and fibromyalgia. It is used in treating anxiety and depression related disorders, drugs like Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft boost serotonin. Melatonin is a hormone manufactured in the brain by the pineal gland, from the amino acid tryptophan. Levels of melatonin in the blood peak before bedtime and its function is to create restful sleep. Stress significantly lowers melatonin levels. Research has also revealed that it is a powerful antioxidant. GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) is one of the major inhibitory neurotransmitters in the central nervous system and is best known for stabilizing mood disorders. Anxiety, tension, insomnia, and epilepsy are believed to be due to the failure to produce adequate levels of GABA. In a study at Yale, people with panic disorder were found to have 22% less GABA than people without panic disorder. Addicts, including those addicted to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, caffeine, food, gambling, and even shopping, all have one thing in common; not enough of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA.
