Video Feedback – ACTLab @ EGS
This June, Elijah Parker taught at the ACTLab@EGS Program for the second year. The European Graduate School Arts Health and Society Division is an expressive arts school, offering post graduate degrees and certifications for Expressive Arts Therapy, Coaching and Consulting, and Peacebuilding & Conflict Transformation. The ACTLab program of Digital Arts and Media in Expressive Arts provides a new pedagogical approach to this intermodal field, granting students a technology-rich environment to play in for self-discovery and transformational art-making. Stay tuned for promotional material and projects of students videos.
Above is a project the students helped co-create on video feedback. Utilizing two projectors and two- three cameras, a NUVJ video mixer, and the LED lights of the ACTLab to create analog fractals. No digital processing was used to create the colors and shapes. The feedback loop created by projecting the same image you are capturing allows for fractals to naturally emerge from the shapes and colors of the room. In this case the color is coming from the light of the projector and two red LEDs on each side of the room. Then by turning the cameras, projectors, and adding a mirror effect through the NUVJ mixer we were able to experiment with an evolving light show. Enjoy!
